There came a time in the life of Berea, when there was not a local man who was ready and willing to step into the pasture to lead this awesome flock. But the Good Shepherd who “careth for His sheep” would not leave us shepherd-less, so He sent us a foreigner of Jamaican descent, a strong young man with the gift of persuasion like the Apostle Paul. Someone who had a rapport with the youth.

Someone who appealed and connected with them in a special way. Many gave their lives to the Lord and are now scattered among our churches here and abroad still serving the Lord.

From New York City this young pastor and President of the Seventh-Day Christian Conference, “stood in the gap”. Pastor DeForest “Buster” Soaries had learned how to put “First Things First” and he was on a roll to preach it, teach it and live it.

Without present technology (zoom, face time, you name it), he did it! With the help of young Sister Janet Bramwell and by the grace of God through the leading of the Holy Spirit, he led us as it were “through the valley of the shadow of death” to “green pastures”.
